KerrSalary : up to $95,000.00, based on education and experienceFull Time /Part Time : Full TimeWork Schedule : Monday - FridayPrimary Hours : 8-5Position Description:The Assistant General Counsel II or III will be within the Office of the General Counsel handling a wide variety of legal issues for the Department's administrative service areas and program areas.Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions:Prepares briefs, pleadings, motions, petitions, and other legal documents.Reviews existing contracts, providing legal advice and counsel regarding the terms and conditions.Analyzes complex factual and legal issues and prepares legal opinions, memorandums of fact and law and other legal documents.Exercises responsibility for the development, preparation, and presentation of cases before administrative, state, federal, and appellate courts.Assists in drafting bills and amendments for legislative consideration, completes reports on changes in legislation, evaluates proposed legislation and makes recommendations for agency action in response thereto.Reviews and/or drafts proposed agency rules.Performs legal research and reports findings and conclusions.Advises on law, regulations, and opinions of the courts and those of the Attorney General; prepares or directs the preparation of interpretations outlining facts and the applicable legal, administrative, or executive decisions.Advises on questions of law or administrative policy involved in the operation of the agency and its contacts with industry, private or professional associations, state federal, or local government, and the general public.Provides legal guidance on HIPAA and related privacy laws, interpreting regulations and advising on compliance strategies.Reviews contracts, data or sharing agreements, and policies to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.Advises on risk mitigation for privacy and cybersecurity issues, ensuring legal obligations are met while protecting sensitive data.Role may include participation in governance committees.Being present at the office is an essential function of the job.Other duties as assigned.Performs related work as assigned.Other DutiesDemonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.Works effectively in a team environment, participating and assisting their peers.Health insuranceVision insurancePaid time offFlexible schedulePerformance bonus
