Job Description:
The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine residency in clinical pathology is a three year program designed to provide post-DVM training in veterinary cytology, hematology, and clinical chemistry. The resident will participate in diagnostic service and the veterinary medicine instructional program on a full-time basis under the direction of two American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) board-certified clinical pathologists. Completion of our three year residency program satisfies the requirements for ACVP board examination eligibility.
50% Participate in diagnostic service for the LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory under the supervision of two board-certified clinical pathologists.
25% Complete an advanced degree (MS/PhD) or participate in research project(s)
10% Gain experience in teaching throughout the Phase I and II veterinary curriculum through assistance in labs and lectures in clinical rotations. Additionally, the resident will help lead rounds for students and house officers.
10% Lead and participate in a variety of rounds, including weekly clinical pathology journal club and chemistry case rounds, monthly ASVCP or IDEXX webinars, comparative pathology rounds, etc.
5% Provide after-hours clinical pathology service
