MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
At least 21 years old.
High School diploma or it's equivalent.
Valid Class-A non-restricted license.
5 years Class-A CDL combination vehicle driving experience.
Clean driving record for the prior five years: no violation for which (5) or more points were assessed, no suspensions or revocations and no convictions for DUI or any related alcohol or drug offense in connection with motor vehicle use.
Current DOT physical
Pre-employment DOT Drug Screen. (State and Federal Law)
All CDL trainers are subject to FMCSR Part 382 Controlled Substance and Alcohol Use and 49 CFR Part 40 Transportation Workplace Drug and Alcohol regulations.
Must meet or exceed the requirements of 49 Code of Federal Regulations 40.25, 380.605, and 391.23.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The trainer assists faculty with supervision and training of CDL students. Works with students who are preparing to become CDL-A non-restricted licensed truck drivers. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Assists faculty with students learning basic backing maneuvers, driving skills, air brake testing, vehicle inspection, space & speed management and driver safety responsibilities.
Assists faculty with teaching demonstrations of chain up procedures, weight distribution, load securement and other vehicle specific non-driving lessons as needed.
Assists faculty with classroom lessons as needed.
Maintains daily pre-trip inspection of vehicles, fuel monitoring and upkeep as needed.
Attend Reasonable Suspicion Certified Supervisor Training and annual refresher training provided by CDL faculty.
Attend quarterly meetings with CDL faculty as assigned.
Attend other meetings as necessary at CDL faculty discretion.
Other program related duties as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to demonstrate at a minimum the following backing skills:
Straight line back
Offset back left and right
Parallel driver side and blind side (conventional)
90 degree alley dock
Ability to safely maneuver differing combinations of tractor/trailer configurations including utilizing proper shifting and turning techniques in complex city traffic situations, close quarter situations, as well as rural and interstate highway driving.
Patience and the ability to remain calm and positive in stressful situations.
