Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is a regulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care. The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure. Program Summary: EQuaL (Enabling Quality of Life) - for adults aged 18 to 64 who have disabilities related to a disease or condition, such as multiple sclerosis or a brain injury, currently requiring the full-time support of a continuing care centre. Qualifications and Experience: - High School Diploma or equivalent is required, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program. - Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English is required. - Must be physically capable of managing the frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning of clients. - Active and current registration with CLHA required. - Related experience in a health care facility is an asset. - Program specific training/experience is an asset. Experience and/or training in the following areas is strongly preferred: - Trauma-informed care. - Mental health diagnoses and treatment. - Responsive behaviors and behavioral management. - Neurological conditions including brain injury, spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis (MS). - Complex care needs of younger adults living with chronic disease and disabilities.
