Establish and maintain optimal inventory levels to ensure consistent product availability while maximizing cost efficiency.
Oversee computerized inventory systems (e.g., Swisslog Pharmacy Manager, Omnicenter) to ensure accuracy in transactions, reporting, and system outputs.
Monitor and manage automated dispensing cabinet inventory levels to support effective and efficient operations.
Implement controls to minimize drug diversion risks for both controlled and non-controlled substances.
Manage pharmaceutical returns and reverse distribution processes to mitigate waste and expired inventory.
Systems, Compliance & Quality
Serve as the department administrator for key systems, including:
ECRI Recall Alert System : Manage drug recalls, including identification, removal, quarantine, and return of affected products; communicate updates to stakeholders.
Cetani Temperature Monitoring System : Respond to alerts and coordinate with Facilities (HVAC) and IT teams.
Ensure compliance with Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) requirements and all applicable regulatory standards (CMS, Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, and other governing bodies).
Maintain and update departmental policies and procedures on a quarterly basis.
Coordinate semi-annual physical inventory across all campuses.
Operations & Process Oversight
Provide leadership and direction to pharmacy technicians, assistants, service staff, and volunteers.
Oversee receiving, storage, and handling of pharmaceutical shipments.
Manage the drug repackaging process to ensure availability of barcode-compliant medications and system integrity.
Ensure the availability and accuracy of emergency medication supplies (e.g., code carts, emergency medication boxes).
Validate expiration date management processes to prevent distribution of expired medications.
Team Leadership & Development
Develop and manage monthly pharmacy technician schedules and adjust based on operational needs.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development.
Establish clear expectations, provide training, and ensure consistent productivity standards.
Collaborate with pharmacy leadership to address drug shortages and implement therapeutic alternatives when necessary
Education & Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma required
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) required
At least 3 years of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required
Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Experience in purchasing and inventory control preferred
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

The Pharmacy Inventory & Logistics Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and operational oversight for pharmaceutical purchasing, inventory management, and automated dispensing systems within the Logistics Center Pharmacy. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal inventory utilization across all sites, including Christiana Hospital, Wilmington Hospital, and the Middletown Emergency Department, while maintaining compliance, efficiency, and service excellence.
