About the role
The Transformation Enablers (TE) team is part of Zillow's Platform Engineering organization and plays a key role in accelerating how product teams deliver experiences for our customers. We build, evolve, and drive adoption of scalable platform capabilities, operating with a platform-as-a-product mindset so teams can independently build, deploy, and operate reliable services using well-designed "paved roads," strong defaults, and self-service tooling. As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the Transformation Enablers (TE) team, you will design, build, and drive adoption of platform capabilities that improve developer velocity, system reliability, and operational maturity across Zillow Group. You will work closely with product and platform teams to identify friction in the developer and operational experience, create reusable solutions that remove that friction at scale, and enable teams through tooling, strategic planning, and governance. This role blends hands-on engineering, customer empathy, and product thinking to deliver durable improvements that multiply the impact of teams across Zillow. You Will Get To Design and implement reusable infrastructure, tooling, and workflows that improve reliability, scalability, and developer experience across Zillow Ensure platform solutions are discoverable, intuitive, and widely adopted, measuring success by customer and business impact rather than output alone Enable teams at scale by replacing one-off fixes and escalations with automation, clear "paved roads," and well-documented guidance Partner directly with product and platform teams to understand pain points, co-create solutions, and influence engineering best practices Apply SRE principles such as observability, automation, and fault tolerance through platform solutions instead of manual intervention Lead by example by raising the engineering bar through strong system design, high-quality code, thorough documentation, and operational rigor This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions. In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.
