Operate and monitor water treatment processes, including pumping, filtration, chemical dosing, and disinfection
Adjust equipment settings to optimize efficiency and maintain water quality parameters
Continuously monitor system indicators such as flow rates, pressure, pH, turbidity, and chlorine levels
Identify deviations from normal operating conditions and implement corrective actions
Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on pumps, valves, motors, and other equipment
Coordinate with maintenance teams for complex repairs and servicing
Collect water samples from various stages of the treatment process and distribution system
Conduct on-site testing and analysis (e.g., chlorine residual, pH, turbidity)
Respond promptly to alarms, equipment failures, and emergencies to minimize disruptions
Maintain accurate records of operational data, test results, and maintenance activities
Prepare reports on plant performance, incidents, and corrective measures taken
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards at all times
Support the implementation of safety practices to protect personnel and the environment
Collaborate with laboratory technicians, engineers, and other team members to optimize operations
Communicate effectively with supervisors and management regarding plant status and issues
Required Skills and Competencies
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in water treatment or a related field is preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills for operating and maintaining equipment.
Basic understanding of water treatment processes and principles.
Familiarity with process control systems and instrumentation.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, manuals, and schematics.
Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
Excellent communication skills for relaying information to team members and management.
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as part of a rotating schedule.
Previous experience in water treatment plant operations or a related field is beneficial but not always required.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in varying weather conditions.
Willingness to work in confined spaces and handle chemicals following safety protocols.
