About the role

The systems behind how money moves are the most important systems we have. At Credit Genie, every payment- every ACH transfer, every card transaction, every settlement needs to be fast, accurate, and completely reliable. As we scale, that gets harder. That's why we're building this role. We're looking for a Payment Operations Lead who has spent years inside payment networks, not just adjacent to them. You know how ACH works and where it breaks. You've built or operated systems processing millions of transactions per day and optimized them for speed, efficiency, and cost. You've navigated fraud, disputes, and the complex relationships between card networks, banking partners, and internal engineering teams. This is a senior, high-ownership role. You'll own payment strategy end-to-end and drive execution across Risk, Engineering, Compliance, and Finance. You'll have the autonomy to shape what our payments infrastructure looks like at the next stage of scale, and you'll be accountable for making it work. We're open to candidates from a product management background or a payments operations background. What we're not flexible on is depth. You need to know ACH and card networks inside and out.

Responsibilities

  • Payment Strategy & Infrastructure
  • Own end-to-end payment strategy across ACH, card networks, and banking partners, built to scale to millions of transactions per day
  • Design and optimize a payment processing infrastructure for speed, efficiency, and reliability at high volume
  • Develop and own the payments roadmap, tackling strategy and execution simultaneously in partnership with Engineering and Finance leadership
  • Reconciliation & Financial Operations
  • Build and maintain a reconciliation framework that is accurate, auditable, and fully explainable across internal systems and external partners
  • Drive automation to reduce manual payment operations work: exception management, reconciliation workflows, and cost attribution
  • Partner with Treasury and Risk on float management, settlement timing, and capital efficiency
  • Fraud, Disputes & Risk
  • Lead fraud prevention and dispute management strategy across ACH and card payment channels- including detection, response, and recovery
  • Manage ACH risk end-to-end: unauthorized transactions, returns, network compliance, and exception handling
  • Serve as the internal authority on payment network rules, edge cases, and risk exposure across all payment rails
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Drive cross-functional execution with Engineering, Risk, Operations, and Compliance to continuously improve the payments stack
  • Translate complex payment system constraints into clear strategy, roadmap priorities, and stakeholder communication
  • Work directly with transaction-level data to diagnose problems, surface patterns, and make decisions

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in payments, within product management, payment operations, or a combination of both
  • Deep working knowledge of ACH and card networks: the rules, the edge cases, the failure modes, and how to build systems that handle them at scale. You have lived and breathed these networks.
  • Proven track record building or operating high-volume payment systems with millions of transactions per day, optimized for speed and cost efficiency
  • Hands-on expertise in payments fraud, dispute resolution, and ACH risk management
  • Strong project management skills- you can align and drive execution across Risk, Engineering, Compliance, and Finance simultaneously
  • Comfortable working directly with transaction-level data to diagnose problems, surface patterns, and drive decisions
  • Able to translate complex payment system constraints into clear strategy, roadmap priorities, and stakeholder communication
  • PREFERRED
  • Experience in Earned Wage Access (EWA) or consumer fintech lending
  • Familiarity with ledgering, reconciliation workflows, or financial close processes
  • Exposure to AI or automation applied to payment operations or exception management
  • Benefits and Perks
  • Our goal is to provide a comprehensive offering of benefits and perks that promote better financial, mental, and physical wellness.
  • We believe working alongside each other in person is the best way to build a great product and foster a strong compa
