Position Overview
The Director, Commercial Performance & Training, is a strategic partner responsible for driving and maximizing the performance and quality of strategy execution on behalf of the Business Units. The Director partners with sales, marketing, and commercial business leaders to identify and prioritize training needs related to product and disease knowledge, account management, leadership development, business acumen, selling skills, and tools/technology. The Director will partner closely with the Medical Affairs, Business Operations, Organizational Development (OD), and Business Unit leadership to uncover learning interventions necessary to ensure the successful deployment of commercial initiatives. The Director will lead the team responsible for creation, design, execution and measurement of learning strategies and blended learning interventions.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serve as a strategic partner to Sales and Marketing leaders to understand and define opportunities and developmental priorities aligned to Business Unit priorities which can be supported with curriculum and education.
Serve as a strategic partner to Sales Leaders, Account Managers and Health Systems Marketing to understand and define opportunities and developmental priorities aligned to Account Management, Business Acumen, Market/Industry Acumen and HIT which can be supported with curriculum and education.
Proactively identify and prioritize training needs related to product attributes, disease state, and the competitive landscape for sales professionals across their learning journey - from New Hire to Advanced/Continuous learning.
Consult with internal cross-functional partners (Sales, Marketing, Medical, OD, etc.) to conduct needs assessments, deeply analyze learning needs, and advise on a roadmap to drive commercial effectiveness and implement best practice.
Cultivate and elevate the skill sets of team members in the areas of facilitation, project management, executive presence, and knowledge of learning design principles.
Lead team to develop, design, and deliver effective training solutions and strategies to build and enhance marketing strategy, customer and market knowledge, leadership and selling effectiveness based on current, emerging, and future business needs.
Partner with CET and Business Operations teams to ensure and plan holistic learning journeys for sales professionals, account managers, and people leaders within the commercial organization (clinical and product knowledge, selling skills, and business acumen).
Ensure new hire team members of the sales force and commercial teams within the remit of support for Commercial Performance and Training, are day-one ready with streamlined and effective learning content and practices.
Manage a team to create and execute short/mid/longer-term development of training approach and curriculum throughout the continuum of a sales professional and leaders (from "hire to retire") and across distinct role types
Continually recruit top-talent individuals for ongoing attrition across the team.
Facilitate content for executive and senior leadership events as needed
Define annual training requirements.
Support delivery of training as needed/appropriate.
Evaluate program quality and effectiveness to maintain quality and impact; recommend changes as needed.
Evaluate use of outside consultants/vendors to manage resources and drive best practice.
Effectively manage, support, and guide your team, including, but not limited to, delegating tasks and responsibilities, assessing employee performance, and providing helpful feedback and training opportunities.
