The Office of Physical Resources & Planning (OPRP) provides complete and integrated planning and design services, construction management, and building renewal, maintenance, and operations management to maintain the physical resources of the FAS campus The Building Services Coordinator for the Harvard College Observatory (HCO) Building Operations team is responsible for coordinating a wide range of day-to-day support functions and activities relating to building systems, maintenance, and services of the HCO. Job-Specific Responsibilities: Performs daily inspections of all buildings and mechanical areas, as well as regularly scheduled tours of the Harvard College Observatory. Responsible for coordinating daily maintenance & day-to-day work/work order management system. Coordinates and directs trades and service providers for the day-to-day building system repairs and customer requests. Assists with the coordination and execution of a range of maintenance and renewal projects. Interacts daily with building occupants, responding to occupant building problems/requests promptly and resolving them quickly. Provides excellent customer service and support to all faculty, staff, and visitors to the Observatory Maintains building key lists and distributes keys as necessary, and assists with access systems requests and programming. Coordinates safety and security program for the decommissioned Oak Ridge Observatory located in Harvard, MA. Assist in maintaining building databases. As a member of Building Operations, works closely with OPRP and Harvard University Office for Sustainability staff to implement best operations and maintenance practices, and to actively participate in FAS greenhouse gas and energy reduction efforts and goals for the Observatory. Perform other related tasks as required. Working Conditions: Critical/Essential Status: This position is based in Cambridge, MA. During emergency situations and severe inclement weather, this position is designated as essential and critical to the operations of the FAS. Physical Requirements: Walking throughout facilities, stairs, mechanical rooms, roofs, etc. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
