Requirements
Graduate degree (PhD or PhD abd ) in a related field in the Humanities.
A record of sustained successful teaching of culture and art courses at a University level. Native or near native fluency in English.
Demonstrated knowledge of the cultural history of Western societies from the 18th century to the early 20th century and how it is reflected and traced through cultural practices and various art forms in France, Germany, Italy, and the Iberian Peninsula.
Demonstrated knowledge of the social, political, religious, literary, cultural and historical bases of these Western societies and how they are reflected and traced through cultural practices and various art forms.
Has successfully taught a course in Cultural Studies with a broad survey of the visual and cultural practices (art, literature, music, and other performing arts) of Western Europe (France, Germany, Italy, and the Iberian Peninsula) through an interdisciplinary perspective.
Has demonstrated teaching competence through previous course evaluations.
Ability to work alone without immediate direct supervision. Ability to engage in active participation in curriculum development; careful test preparation.
Commitment to the incorporation of web-based pedagogical techniques, materials and resources in the teaching of the course.
Competence in the use of Brightspace; basic computer skills including word processing and database management, common office software ( e.g. Word, Excel) and multi-media equipment
Commitment to responsible time management ( e.g. course structuring, punctuality for lectures).

Members shall not accept any appointment which, taken together with all other appointments at the University, would cause the member to exceed the maximum number of regular hours (i.e., not overtime hours) allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act, as amended from time to time.
Applicants that are in excess of the above noted workload limits will not have their applications considered unless they have received prior written approval from the appropriate Dean and the Human Resources Department.
