About the role
We're looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our team in Invercargill , supporting a major project for a heavy industrial client . This is serious work in a live industrial environment, with plenty of moving parts, a wide mix of trades, and the kind of complexity that calls for someone who can hit the ground running. This is not a step-up role. We're after someone already operating confidently at Project Engineer level, with proven experience delivering civil and structural works on site and the confidence to make good calls when it counts. You'll play a key part in coordinating and delivering works across structural concrete, drainage, and structural steel, with some exposure to mechanical and electrical interfaces a bonus, not a core requirement. If you're practical, organised, low ego, and like being close to the action, this is a chance to do Good Work on a challenging and rewarding project. We'd ideally like someone based in Invercargill. That said, we're also open to being flexible on location for the right person, with Christchurch our preference and Dunedin also workable. Mining environment experience is a bonus! Key role responsibilities You'll be trusted to: Lead Day-to-day engineering delivery across key work fronts on site. Coordinate Construction activities across structural concrete, drainage, and structural steel packages. Work Closely with supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers, and the wider project team to keep works safe, compliant, and moving. Support Planning, sequencing, and short-term programming in a busy live industrial environment. Manage Quality documentation including ITPs, QA records, inspections, as-builts, and related reporting. Monitor Safety, environmental, and quality performance, and step in early when something needs attention. Help Drive efficient site coordination across multiple trades and interfaces. Support Cost control, productivity tracking, and progress reporting alongside the Project Manager. Build Strong working relationships on site and contribute to a team culture that is flat, friendly, and focused on delivery. We're looking for someone with Proven experience already working at Project Engineer level on civil or infrastructure projects. Strong technical delivery experience across structural concrete, drainage, and structural steel. The ability to coordinate multiple trades and keep calm when the pace lifts. A practical understanding of working in live industrial, construction, or similarly complex environments. Exposure to mechanical and electrical (M&E) interfaces would be useful, but it's not a core requirement. A strong commitment to safety, quality, and doing the job properly.
