About the role
American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) is an industry-leading battery metals and critical material technology development and commercialization company. Our Pilot Plant just outside of Reno, Nevada will be the first integrated implementation of our multi-step processing train for the full mechanical processing, physical separation, chemical extraction, and production of commercial-scale battery metals that will be resold back into the battery manufacturing supply chain to enact a low-cost, low environmental impact, and domestically sourced closed-loop circular economy. As our Document Management Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing, managing, and improving document management processes to ensure information is accurate, secure, traceable, and accessible throughout its lifecycle. This role oversees daily document control activities, supports users of DMS/EDMS platforms, and develops policies and standards to ensure compliance, while facilitating efficient collaboration and maximizing the value of document workflows. Implement and administer DMS/EDMS: configure systems, manage users/permissions, and maintain metadata standards. Design scalable document control processes tailored to project size and complexity; also ensure document control adds value without creating unnecessary administrative burden. Manage the full document lifecycle from creation through revisions, archiving and disposal in accordance with company policies, project procedures, and regulatory requirements. Maintain document integrity: numbering, naming, revision history, and version control. Process and distribute incoming/outgoing documents (drawings, specs, contracts, reports). Develop and enforce document control procedures, workflows, templates, and taxonomies. Coordinate transmittals/submittals (internal and external clients) and track progress through review/approval cycles. Perform quality checks for completeness, accuracy, and compliance before release. Maintain logs, trackers, and dashboards to monitor status and deadlines. Train and support users; create guides and promote best practices Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet document requirements. Support audits and ensure records are accurate, traceable, and accessible. Monitor compliance and follow up on overdue or incomplete documentation. Minimum Required Qualifications 3-10 years of experience in document control, records management, or similar roles within project-driven environments (engineering, construction, manufacturing, legal, or other regulated industries). Proficiency with document management systems such as Coreworx, SharePoint, OpenText, Procore, Power BI, or similar platforms. Proven ability to design and implement scalable document control processes tailored to project size and complexity, balancing efficiency with appropriate rigor for both small projects and large, multi-disciplinary capital programs. Demonstrated experience managing full document lifecycles, including version control, Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in team-based and matrixed organizational environments. Skill & Competencies Strong understanding of document management principles, including workflows, taxonomies, records retention, and quality/audit requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485). Proficiency with DMS/EDMS platforms and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with experience in collaboration tools such as SharePoint or Teams. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage high document volumes, competing priorities, and maintain strong attention to detail in fast-paced, project-driven environments.
