Day in the Life The Rate Analyst supports the company's regulatory, commercial, and financial objectives by conducting cost of service studies, designing rates, and preparing filings for interstate natural gas pipeline services under Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) jurisdiction. This role involves complex analysis, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the company's rates and tariffs are competitive, compliant, and support business goals. Responsibilities/Expectations: Coordinates the development of rate case positions on significant issues Analyzes FERC orders related to filings and communicates company impact Prepares and files tariff changes to meet the business needs of company partners Coordinates responses to FERC and customer's data request Collaborates with company partners to gather and review data for FERC certificate filings and reports and ensure they are consistent with business strategies and practices Provides expert testimony before federal or state regulatory bodies Supports commercial and business development teams to evaluate new opportunities/services Develops, reviews and provides input into legal pleadings Consults as a specialist on FERC regulatory matters Performs detailed cost-of-service studies, financial modeling, and scenario analysis to support rate proposals and regulatory strategies Creates, evaluates, and recommends rate structures and tariff provisions; prepare and submit rate case filings, tariff changes, and compliance reports to FERC Works with internal teams (Legal, Engineering, Commercial, Accounting, Scheduling, Gas Control) to gather data and develop comprehensive regulatory strategies Monitors and analyzes transportation and storage agreements to maximize value, minimize costs, and support strategic planning for new and existing capacity offerings Mentors others Other duties as assigned Regulatory Analyst Lead Education/Years of Experience: Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field and a minimum of six (6) years' experience in interstate pipeline work Preferred: MBA Regulatory Analyst Sr Education/Years of Experience: Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field and a minimum of four (4) years' interstate pipeline work experience Preferred: Direct experience in interstate regulatory area Other Requirements: Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills Direct experience in interstate regulatory area Familiarity with pipeline capacity management, contract analysis, and tariff development Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments #LI-KR1 About Houston (Williams Tower Location): Our Houston office is located in the Williams Tower, just steps from the Houston Galleria on Post Oak Boulevard, an area with more than 700 retailers, fine dining and hotels within two square miles.
