Communicate staffing information clearly with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to support timely decision making and collaboration.
Prepare daily shift-based staffing summaries to provide leadership with actionable visibility into workforce utilization.
Maintain and update department schedules in scheduling software to ensure accurate data integrity for forecasting, reporting, and optimization.
Perform clerical and administrative tasks including phone management, message routing, documentation, and record maintenance to support smooth office operations.
Support daily operations of the Clinical Resource Office by assisting with bed census management and coordinating patient transfers to optimize patient flow.
Collect and enter transfer center consult data and operational metrics to support reporting, analysis, and continuous improvement.
Deliver high quality customer service using de-escalation techniques and professional communication to promote trust, clarity, and positive working relationships.
Follow organizational policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and consistent operational standards.
Execute additional assigned tasks to support departmental efficiency and organizational goals
Education/Experience
Minimum Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) or similar electronic tools
1 year experience working in a healthcare related field
Preferred:
Previous healthcare scheduling experience in acute setting
Associate's degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or related field

UHS is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staffing Specialist to support nursing operations across Wilson Medical Center and Binghamton General Hospital. This role coordinates daily staffing to ensure coverage aligns with patient needs, maintains accurate schedules in staffing systems, and communicates real-time updates to nursing leadership. The Staffing Specialist also supports census management, assists with patient flow and transfers, and prepares staffing summaries to guide operational decisions.

Responsibilities include responding to call-offs and staffing gaps, performing administrative support tasks, and delivering excellent customer service while collaborating with clinical teams.
