Implant Equipment Maintenance Technicians are responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on ion implant semiconductor manufacturing equipment within a cleanroom environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills, works effectively in a team setting, and supports continuous equipment performance improvement. Experience with Axcelis and Varian (Vista) implanters is highly desirable.
This is a factory-based position supporting the Implant equipment team and requires working in a cleanroom environment while wearing appropriate cleanroom attire and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on ion implant fab equipment
Troubleshoot complex equipment issues, including Axcelis and Varian (Vista) implanters, and implement solutions to minimize recurring tool downtime
Demonstrate strong working knowledge of implant system functionality, subsystems, and fault isolation techniques
Improve system performance to meet process specifications and increase tool uptime and reliability
Monitor, analyze, and interpret tool performance data and alarms
Recommend and implement improvements to maintenance procedures and practices
Partner with engineers to support equipment qualifications, process changes, and improvement projects
Clearly communicate equipment status during daily pass down meetings
Provide clear, concise written documentation to engineers and technicians across shifts
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or military training preferred
3+ years of experience maintaining semiconductor manufacturing equipment (implant experience preferred)
Proven troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, vacuum, and pneumatic systems
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
Experience working in a cleanroom environment and following strict safety protocols
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to work compressed workweek, night shift, or on-call support as needed
Hands-on experience with Axcelis ion implant systems (e.g., Purion platform)
Experience with Varian (Vista) implanters or similar legacy implant platforms
Demonstrated expertise in advanced fault isolation and root cause analysis on implant tools
Familiarity with SPC, fault detection systems (FDC), and equipment automation systems
Experience supporting tool installations, upgrades, and qualifications
Continuous improvement mindset with a track record of increasing tool uptime and reliability
