Independently deliver more complex training courses and learning activities
Support and provide guidance to Technical Trainer I employees
Partner with operations management to identify training gaps and compliance needs
Contribute to gas/electric standards reviews and operational training improvements
Research and apply emerging technologies, methods, and industry trends
Required Qualifications
Experience delivering and evaluating technical training programs
Knowledge of maintenance, operating procedures, and field practices
Working knowledge of training and operational systems (e.g., LMS, WMS, MDTs)
Valid, in-state driver's license upon hire

Technical Trainer III
(Includes all Technical Trainer II responsibilities plus the following)
5-7 years of experience in the natural gas or electric utility industry and/or advanced technical training
Lead complex learning events across Line, Substation, or Metering disciplines
Direct classroom, hands-on, simulation, and OJT programs to maximize learning outcomes
Serve as a subject matter expert for curriculum development
Lead or participate in training governance and program oversight
Build strong partnerships with frontline leaders to assess trainee performance and readiness
Monitor industry trends and recommend strategic training enhancements
Advanced experience delivering technical training across multiple job classifications
Strong facilitation skills for varying group sizes
Proficiency with training and operational systems
Senior Technical Trainer
(Includes all Technical Trainer III responsibilities plus the following)
8+ years of experience in the natural gas or electric utility industry and/or senior-level technical training
Serve as enterprise-level subject matter expert in assigned discipline
Lead strategic training planning and annual training work plans with key business partners
Mentor and develop Technical Trainers I-III
Conduct trainer skill evaluations and support trainer progression
Represent Technical Training at industry events and external forums
Support curriculum development, standards reviews, and regulatory alignment
Provide expert testimony in arbitrations, depositions, or cour

Job Summary
The Technical Trainer plans, develops, and delivers technical training programs to support employee development across Gas and Electric Operations, including Line, Substation, and Metering functions. This role provides high-quality, timely, and innovative training focused on safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
The Technical Trainer partners closely with Operations, Construction, Engineering, Customer Operations, and field leadership to assess training needs, develop curriculum, and ensure employees are prepared to work safely, effectively, and in compliance with all applicable OSHA, regulatory, and industry requirements . Depending on level, the role may also determine employee training readiness, competency progression, and qualification status in collaboration with field operations and On-the-Job Trainers (OJTs).

Technical Trainer I
Essential Functions
1-3 years of experience in the natural gas or electric utility industry and/or technical training within a related utility, skilled trades, emergency response, or military training environment
Deliver instructor-led technical training focused on foundational skills and procedures
Support classroom, hands-on, simulation, and OJT learning activities
Assist with course preparation, delivery, and trainee evaluations
Promote a safe work environment and actively participate in safety programs
Required Qualifications
Experience delivering effective technical or operational training
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of PC applications
Valid, in-state driver's license upon hire
