The Commuter Coordinator contributes to an engaging and Christ-centered student experience by making and maintaining connections that promote community integration and holistic growth among designated commuter student populations. This role reports to an Associate Director of Commuter Life, working to support them in their execution of commuter development strategy through program development, event support, and other service offerings. The Commuter Coordinator will leverage organic interactions and initiatives, discipleship, and peer mentoring alongside strategic attendance at on-campus and off-campus events to ensure commuter students develop a sense of belonging as a part of the Liberty community. The ideal candidate for this role is a disciplined Christ-follower, culturally intelligent, sociable, tenacious, self-directed, visionary, team-oriented, and adept at developing productive relationships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Neighborhood Leadership and Engagement
Lead and cultivate a designated Commuter Neighborhood, fostering a culture of belonging, connection, and growth among assigned commuter students.
Develop personal connections with neighborhood members through consistent check-ins, conversations, and presence at Commuter Life spaces and events.
Steward an allocated budget to p lan, promote, and execute Neighborhood Hangouts and initiatives that build community and reflect Commuter Life's mission and Development Targets.
Maintain consistent communication with neighborhood members through email, social media, text messaging, and other creative channels to ensure awareness of Commuter Life opportunities and resources.
Use Commuter Life brand guidelines and approved Adobe Express templates to design promotional materials and digital content that represent the neighborhood and Commuter Life identity with excellence.
Represent the neighborhood within Commuter Life, helping shape shared traditions, identity, and collaborative events that celebrate commuter culture.
Mentorship & Coaching
Develop students through mentorship, coaching, and discipleship individually and in groups.
Meet with the Associate Director of Commuter Development for individual coaching, development, and support.
Organic Interactions & Initiatives
Engage commuter students in conversations, work, and socializing opportunities in Commuter Life spaces.
Initiate organic events and gatherings on and off campus to promote connections and growth.
Participate in activities sponsored by Student Activities, Rec Centers, SGA, LU Shepherd, IDE, and other University departments to reinforce community and connections.
Interaction Documentation & Data Gathering
Document intentional interactions and key touchpoints with commuters within their Commuter Neighborhood, noting student engagement, growth, critical life events, and support needs.
Track participation and attendance trends within designated populations using established Commuter Life systems and reporting tools.
Provide the Director and Associate Director of Commuter Development with updates on student connections, concerns, and well-being to support CARE coordination and initiatives that promote student success.
Contribute to Commuter Experience Analytics by maintaining accurate and timely records that inform departmental assessment and strategy.
Student Development Planning
Support strategy and execution of development programs for general commuters and their Commuter Neighborhood.
Meet and collaborate with the Associate Director of Commuter Development to advance team strategy, forecast event attendance, and debrief commuter check-ins.
Commuter Life Team Support
Assist in other Commuter Life/Student Life projects.
Assist in Representing Commuter Life in Welcome Week, CFAW, and Other University Events.
Other Duties as assigned.
