Job Summary The Senior Business Analyst plays a critical role in enabling Business Banking strategy by bridging business needs and technology delivery. The role partners with stakeholders across Business Banking, Technology, Risk, and Operations to analyse complex business challenges, define requirements, and drive solutions that improve client experience, operational efficiency, and growth. This role builds on the core BA responsibilities of analysing needs, defining requirements, and delivering solutions within Business Banking initiatives Job Description 1. Strategic Business Analysis Lead end-to-end business analysis activities across large-scale Business Banking initiatives Partner with senior stakeholders to define business problems, opportunities, and outcomes Translate strategy into clear business cases, requirements, and delivery roadmaps Provide thought leadership on business analysis approaches and best practices 2. Requirements Elicitation & Management Facilitate workshops, interviews, and stakeholder engagements to gather complex requirements Define, document, and manage functional and non-functional requirements Ensure traceability of requirements from concept through to delivery Drive alignment across business units, IT, and product teams 3. Process Optimisation & Transformation Analyse and map current ("As-Is") Business Banking processes and design improved ("To-Be") states Identify opportunities for automation, digitisation, and operational improvement Support Lean, Agile, and continuous improvement initiatives across the bank Contribute to digital transformation and efficiency programmes 4. Solution Design & Delivery Support Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications for delivery Collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, Architects, and Project Managers Conduct gap analysis, impact assessments, and feasibility reviews Support testing phases (SIT, UAT), defect resolution, and implementation 5. Data Analysis & Insights Analyse Business Banking data (customers, products, performance, risk indicators) to support decision-making Identify trends, risks, and opportunities across portfolios Develop insights that inform strategy, product development, and operational improvements Support business case development using data-driven recommendations 6. Stakeholder & Relationship Management Build strong relationships across Business Banking, Technology, Risk, and Operations Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders Facilitate alignment across cross-functional delivery teams Manage expectations, risks, and communication throughout project lifecycles 7. Governance, Risk & Compliance Ensure alignment to Absa governance frameworks, risk policies, and regulatory requirements Support audit readiness, documentation standards, and traceability Identify and mitigate risks across initiatives Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree (Business, IT, Finance, or related) - essential Postgraduate qualification or BA certification (e.g. CBAP, Agile, Lean Six Sigma) - advantageous 7-10+ years' Business Analysis experience (preferably in Financial Services / Business Banking) Proven experience working on complex transformation, digital, or data initiatives Strong understanding of Business Banking products, operations, and client segments Technical & Functional Skills Business analysis tools (process mapping, requirements documentation) Agile delivery methodologies (Scrum, SAFe) Data analysis and interpretation Process modelling (As-Is / To-Be) Business case development Behavioural Competencies Strategic thinking and problem-solving Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills Commercial acumen (Business Banking context) High attention to detail and delivery focus Ability to work in a matrix environment and manage competing priorities Education Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Physical, Mathematical, Computer and Life Sciences (Required) Absa Bank Limited is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer.
