About the role

Description of Post The post relates primarily to the teaching on the MSc and BSc in Clinical Measurement Physiology programmes within the Faculty of Science and Health. This will also include specialist discipline modules in Gastrointestinal Physiology The Faculty of Science and Health has a wide range of degree courses across a number of disciplines including Human Nutrition, Health Science and Physiology, Public Health, Health Science and Physical Activity, Health and Exercise science, Sports and Exercise Nutrition, Occupational Safety and Health, Health and Exercise Science, Biomedical Science, Forensic Investigation & Analysis and Pharmaceutical Science. The successful candidate will be required to undertake lecturing and associated duties (on-site and online) pertaining to a range of modules up to and including Level 9 within the School/Faculty, with special emphasis on Clinical Measurement Physiology including Gastrointestinal Physiology, Clinical Measurement, Physiology and Anatomy, Pathology, Medical Instrumentation, Exercise Physiology, and Health Sciences. The successful candidate will also be required to supervise postgraduate research and engage in the development of new learning provisions. This post will involve teaching in areas that encompass a broad spectrum of topics in Clinical Measurement Science and will be expected to enhance the discipline area at ATU Sligo, providing leadership and expertise in a manner which engages with the student body and ensures that the students understand the relevance and application of their core learning. The post-holder will also be expected to directly engage with a range of clinical professionals and oversee student placements and work experience in hospital and other relevant settings which may necessitate national travel to host organizations. Similarly, all new academic staff will be expected to champion the development of new viable courses for whole-time or part-time delivery in disciplines with the broad subject area cognate with the title of the post, engage in relevant research, which will expand the research expertise and activity in the faculty. Essential Qualifications Minimum: An Honours Degree (2.2 or higher) in a relevant Level 8 degree better in Clinical Measurement science/physiology or equivalent as per the requirements of the professional body and an MSc or equivalent recognised professional qualifications. Three years relevant post-qualification clinical experience in Gastrointestinal Physiology and have a working knowledge of Clinical Measurement physiology/Clinical Physiology, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of a clinical-facing post, which would include demonstrable work/training undertaken in a relevant clinical setting.
