Review and approve VAT returns prepared by the internal team in Cork, Ireland.
Oversee VAT returns for key and complex entities.
Ensure timely and accurate filing of indirect tax returns across the region.
Oversee reconciliation of VAT accounts with financial data and statutory filings.
Support and coordinate responses to tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
Business Partnering & Advisory
Provide VAT advice and support to internal stakeholders, including Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, Procurement, AP/AR, Marketing, Global commercial teams and Trade Compliance.
Ensure accurate VAT treatment of transactions and processes across the business.
Collaborate with regional tax leads to ensure alignment of global indirect tax strategies.
Systems, Processes & Controls
Maintain and enhance VAT determination processes within Oracle (E-Business Tax) and Avalara tax engine.
Support data extraction, analysis, and reconciliations using tools such as OneStream.
Ensure robust documentation and continuous improvement of internal VAT processes and controls.
Leadership & Team Support
Support and mentor VAT team members (notably in Cork).
Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Drive knowledge-sharing across regions and functions.
Projects & Transformation Initiatives
Lead and support key indirect tax projects, including: Implementation of e-invoicing and e-reporting requirements.
Driving automation and use of AI within tax processes.
Supporting migration to a modern ERP environment (e.g., Oracle Cloud).
Review of VAT deductibility for holding companies.
Conducting risk assessment for digital services business (B2C model).
Support VAT aspects of expansion into new and emerging markets.

Candidate Profile
Requirements
Approximately 10+ years of indirect tax / VAT experience.
Strong expertise in European VAT (essential).
Experience working in a multinational environment.
Proven track record in managing compliance, audits, and cross-border VAT issues.
Experience leading or contributing to process improvement and transformation projects.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
Experience with tax engines (e.g., Avalara).
Advanced Excel skills (data analysis, large datasets).
Familiarity with data and automation tools (e.g., OneStream, Alteryx) is advantageous.
Desirable
Knowledge of Swiss VAT.
Experience with digital services / e-commerce VAT models.
Additional language skills, particularly Spanish, are beneficial.

Role Overview
