Terex MDS are excited to bring an Engineering Manager role to the market. Reporting the General Manager, the role holder will join the Senior Management Team at Terex MDS - playing a critical role in the delivery of business objectives.
If you thrive in a customer focused role, are motivated by results and excited to lead people while developing exciting products - this could be the opportunity for you.
As Engineering Manager, you'll lead and develop a team delivering innovative heavy‑duty mobile trommel machinery from concept through to launch. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll shape technical direction, coach engineers, and drive product excellence through robust engineering practices. You'll partner closely with operations, quality, sales, service and customers, providing expert technical support and ensuring the voice of the end user is built into every design decision.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Lead, coach and support a team of engineers in the design, development and continuous improvement of heavy‑duty machinery.
Own delivery across multiple engineering projects, ensuring on-time execution, robust design reviews and adherence to quality standards.
Partner with cross-functional teams (operations, quality, sales, service and supply chain) to translate customer needs into clear engineering requirements.
Champion strong engineering processes and best practices (design control, change management, verification/validation) to improve safety, reliability and speed to market.
Plan resourcing and manage budgets to align priorities, capacity and delivery commitments.
Stay current with industry trends and new technologies, bringing forward practical improvements to products and ways of working.
Work with Sales, Service and Marketing to ensure the voice of the customer is central to design specifications for new products and upgrades to existing models.
Lead root-cause investigations and implement cost-effective design and technology solutions to resolve field issues and drive ongoing model improvements.
Deliver product designs and ensure new product introductions meet quality, delivery and cost targets defined by the NPPD process.
Ensure measurable standards are applied for product safety, performance, function and reliability.
Embed established Group engineering standards and associated IT systems to ensure effective global management of released engineering data.
Manage the engineering budget in line with product plans and continuous improvement priorities.
Drive standardisation of components and sub-assemblies across Material Processing to improve quality, serviceability and cost.
Build a high-performing team: set clear direction, coach and mentor direct reports, and create a culture of continuous improvement, added value and cost reduction. Set team objectives and development goals, and track progress through regular 1:1s and clear performance measures.
Create strong communication across teams to enable fast decisions, effective change management and smooth implementation of improvements.
Ensure the team operates in line with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
Carry out performance reviews and support people processes (attendance, holidays and employee relations) fairly and consistently.
Experience Level & Required Qualifications:
Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent
Membership of an industry related Professional Body preferred
A strong track record in the design, development and successful launch of heavy machinery (or closely related industrial equipment).
Experience leading an engineering team or function-either in a formal management role or as a senior/lead engineer ready to take the next step.
Proven ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements
Proven project management and supplier experience
Confidence operating and influencing at a strategic level, balancing technical detail with business priorities.
Proven experience with CAD and familiarity with TMS and the NPPD process (or equivalent product development frameworks).
