As the Major Gifts Officer, you will focus on cultivating relationships with donors, community leaders, businesses, and philanthropists capable of making significant financial contributions to the hospital. Responsibilities include:
Building and managing long-term relationships with major donors and prospective donors
Meeting with individuals, businesses, and community leaders to discuss philanthropic opportunities
Identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts, often in excess of $100,000
Managing a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors
Helping donors align their giving interests with hospital priorities such as: Patient programs, Capital projects, Medical equipment, Endowments, and Community initiatives
Collaborating with hospital leadership, volunteers, and development staff on fundraising strategies
Attending networking events, donor meetings, lunches, and community functions
Developing thoughtful donor engagement and stewardship strategies
Tracking donor activity, fundraising progress, and follow-up communications within the donor database
Partnering with Marketing and Communications on donor campaigns and fundraising materials
Supporting fundraising initiatives that strengthen long-term donor relationships and philanthropic growth
Occasionally working evenings and weekends for donor meetings and community events
Requirements
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of five years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, business development, sales, or community relations.
A documented track record of securing multiple gifts and pledges of five-, six-, or seven-figure commitments.
Experience managing major donor portfolios
Hospital foundation, nonprofit, or higher education fundraising experience
Experience working with fundraising campaigns or strategic development initiatives
Experience with donor databases such as Blackbaud Raiser's Edge/NXT
Experience collaborating with executive leadership, boards, or community volunteers
Candidates with significant fundraising and development leadership experience may be considered for an expanded development leadership opportunity.
