Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of field data.
Survey Data Collection & Processing
Collect and process spatial data using modern survey instruments (Total Station, RTK GPS, Drone/UAV if applicable).
Generate Digital Terrain Models (DTM), contour maps, and Digital Elevation Models (DEM).
Process raw survey data using software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, or similar tools.
Validate and cross-check survey outputs for design readiness.
Engineering Support
Provide accurate topographic data to highway design, drainage, and geometric design teams.
Assist in alignment fixing, right-of-way (ROW) mapping, and utility mapping.
Support preparation of preliminary and detailed engineering reports.
Coordinate with design engineers for resolving site-related discrepancies.
Field Supervision & Team Management
Lead and supervise junior surveyors and field teams.
Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of survey instruments.
Allocate field tasks and monitor daily progress of survey activities.
Enforce safety protocols during field operations.
Quality Control & Accuracy Assurance
Ensure survey data meets required tolerances as per project standards.
Perform checks and validations of control networks and benchmark data.
Maintain documentation of survey methodologies and calibration records.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and government agencies (NHAI, PWD, Railways, etc.).
Participate in site meetings and resolve survey-related technical issues.
Support in submission and approval of survey reports and drawings.
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare detailed topographic survey reports, drawings, and datasets.
Maintain survey logs, field books, and GIS databases.
Ensure proper archiving and version control of survey data.
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Survey Engineering (preferred)
Certification in surveying or GIS tools is an advantage
Minimum 10 years of experience in topographic and engineering surveys
Strong exposure to highway, expressway, or large infrastructure projects in India
Experience in consultancy firms preferred
Technical Skills
Total Station, DGPS, RTK GPS operations
UAV/drone-based photogrammetry (preferred)
AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, or similar CAD/GIS software
Knowledge of coordinate systems, geodetic principles, and mapping standards

The Topographic Surveyor is responsible for planning, executing, and supervising topographic and geospatial surveys for infrastructure projects such as highways, expressways, railways, urban roads, and industrial developments. The role involves leading survey teams, ensuring high-accuracy spatial data collection, and supporting engineering design teams with reliable terrain and alignment data.
