Management Preferences: Documented knowledge of clerical/secretarial skills Documented knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software Documented knowledge in the use of various office machines Salary Range: $31,200.00 - $51,249.00 Reporting to the Administrative Officer position is responsible for the Centralized Mail Processing Center of a male minimum security custody facility and assisting the Administrative Officer with personnel duties. The position responsibilities include the following: Transport all outgoing mail to the US Postal Service Office and transport all incoming mail into the facility using a state vehicle. Sort and inspect all outgoing and incoming offender mail; utilize inmate banking system (OPUS/IBS) to enter funds received for inmates; process and handle all incoming packages and all outgoing mail and packages. Meet distribution needs for both the facility and offenders ensuring all policy and procedures are applied for the safety and security of the public and staff. Work with great attention to detail, ability to use a computer and Microsoft software; Word, Excel, Outlook with a significant knowledge of office procedures and practices. Process data assigned will require usage of a computer, fax machine, scanner and copier; file with accuracy in a systematic order. Employees will work independently, use good communication skills both verbally and written, and answer inmate inquiries concerning mail. This position will have daily contact with offenders; so maintaining confidentiality and following prisons policies and procedures is required. This position supports the Administrative Officer in administrative duties including but not limited to data entry, day-to-day processing, and ordering supplies, and associated financial tasks. The prison originally housed medium custody offenders and was converted to a minimum-security unit in 1966. Piedmont Community College works with the prison to provide vocational classes in food service technology and light construction. Work Schedule This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). The selected candidate will work Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. Hours may vary at times depending on the business needs of the facility.
