About the role
Eco-Movement, part of Dow Jones, is a leading global platform for EV charge point location and pricing data. Customers of the platform include navigation providers, charge point operators, eMSPs, and the public sector. As an independent platform with more than 1.5 million connectors in over 80 countries, Eco-Movement is in a unique position to support the electrification of the passenger and heavy-duty vehicle segments. To learn more about us, check out this page . As Engineering Manager, you will lead two of our core engineering teams: the App Team and the Locations Team. The App Team builds and owns many of our client-facing applications, including the Data Retrieval Platform, where clients access and analyze global EV charging market data, and the Data Verification Service, which automatically catches and corrects EV charger inconsistencies across platforms like Google and Apple Maps. The Locations Team is the heart of our organization: they own the location data pipeline and our main location data API, feeding the rest of the company with the reliable, high-quality data that everything else depends on. You will report directly to the CTO to ensure both teams have clarity of purpose, strong engineering practices, and the space to do their best work. This is primarily a people leadership role, but you'll also engage on larger engineering disciplines and help shape technical direction where it matters most. We embrace AI as a powerful partner (Claude, Gemini and more) to augment our workflows, but it's not a replacement for human excellence. We take collective pride in the systems we build, ensuring our architecture is sustainable, clean, and something the entire team is proud to stand behind. You Will: Build two high-performing teams. Coach, develop, and grow the engineers on both teams, fostering psychological safety, clear direction, and an environment where people understand how their work contributes to Eco-Movement's success and can meet their own professional growth goals. This includes being an active part of the hiring process as both teams continue to expand. Drive engineering excellence. Assess current engineering processes and lead meaningful improvements across incident response, deployment cadence, code review culture, and testing standards, raising the bar for how both teams operate day to day. Shape technical direction. Collaborate with product managers on roadmap priorities and contribute to key architectural decisions and spikes, ensuring engineering considerations are represented and the teams are set up to deliver with confidence. You Have: 4-7 years of engineering management experience, ideally leading backend or data-focused teams. Enough technical depth to engage meaningfully in architectural discussions and occasional spikes, familiarity with technologies like Google Cloud Platform, PHP, Go, Kubernetes, BigQuery, or Pub/Sub is a strong advantage. A track record of building stable, motivated teams with clear purpose and high ownership. Experience managing engineering teams through a period of rapid growth or organizational change, such as a scale-up or post-acquisition environment, is a strong plus. Domain knowledge in EV, mobility, or data platforms is a meaningful bonus. Fluency in Dutch is a nice-to-have; English is our working language across a team of 20+ nationalities.
