Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Officer (12-Month Contract)

About the role

This role is to provide technical and operational support across site safety, health, and environmental functions. This is a backend and strategic role, focusing on strengthening systems, processes, and compliance frameworks rather than purely ground-level data collection. You will play a key role in supporting HSE initiatives, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and corporate standards.

Responsibilities

• HSE Planning & Support
• Identify gaps in corporate HSE initiatives and local regulatory requirements
• Support implementation and sustainability of HSE management systems
• Maintain accurate records in line with data protection and retention policies
• Promote a strong safety culture integrated into daily operations
• Execution & Operations
• Act as a key HSE resource, providing guidance on internal processes
• Support hazard identification, risk assessments, and incident investigations
• Assist with corrective and preventive action tracking and closure
• Coordinate environmental management activities
• Deliver training and awareness programs to promote HSE compliance
• Monitoring & Improvement
• Participate in HSE inspections and audits
• Support analysis of incident trends and safety data
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and reporting
• Compliance & Governance
• Maintain local HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance
• Support emergency response planning and training
• Drive employee engagement to foster a strong safety culture
• Quality & Team Collaboration
• Follow standard work processes and quality procedures
• Support quality checks and non-conformance control
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve safety and operational efficiency

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, Sustainability or related field
• Relevant experience in HSE, safety management, or environmental functions
• Strong understanding of risk assessment, incident investigation, and HSE systems
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work in a structured environment
