We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role will play an integral part in managing our financial processes, including revenue accounting, equity, technical accounting research, and owning our external audit process. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who enjoys wearing multiple hats, thrives on accuracy, and has a passion for continuous learning and process improvement - particularly with Finance Leadership being one of CloudZero's primary buyers. This person will collaborate closely with our accounting associate, with both roles reporting directly to Finance leadership.
Responsibilities
Revenue & Cost Accounting
Review and analyze revenue contracts in Campfire to ensure proper treatment and documentation
Advise on and apply revenue recognition standards (ASC 606) across the business
Record revenue entries and maintain accuracy of the revenue ledger
Book cost of goods sold (COGS) in alignment with recognized revenue
Review T&E entries prepared by the accounting associate, ensuring policy compliance
Equity Accounting
Manage stock-based compensation accounting and related journal entries
Maintain cap table and equity rollforward schedules
Partner with legal and HR on equity-related reporting and disclosures
Technical Accounting
Research and apply new and existing accounting standards (GAAP/ASC)
Draft technical accounting memos and position papers as needed
Serve as a resource for complex accounting questions across the team
Audit & Controls
Manage the external audit process - PBC lists, coordinate auditor requests, and serve as primary point of contact
Support internal controls documentation and testing
Process & Product Improvement
Identify and implement operational workflow improvements across the accounting function
Help build and document scalable accounting processes as the company grows
CloudZero super-user and provide Finance-oriented feedback to Product and GTM teams
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing requirements
Self-starter with a strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take on various responsibilities
Comfortable learning and working in new technology platforms (we use Campfire, Ramp, and other modern tools)
Experience with revenue accounting, technical accounting, or audit a plus
CPA preferred
Based in Boston and willing to commute to the office at least 2x per week preferred
