About the role
Responsible for underwriting leadership and P&L management of Financial Lines products across the corporate segment (including Directors & Officers Liability, Professional Indemnity, Cyber, and related specialty lines). Drive underwriting strategy, portfolio management, and risk selection to ensure sustainable and profitable growth across new business and renewals. Manage underwriting relationships with brokers, multinational partners (MTPs), and key intermediaries, ensuring high service standards, strong engagement, and effective collaboration. Lead business development initiatives to achieve GWP growth targets, including strengthening broker pipelines, expanding key accounts, and enhancing market presence in the Financial Lines segment. Maintain strong technical underwriting discipline, including continuous personal development to achieve and sustain Delegated Authority Level (DAL) capability. Evaluate risks in accordance with underwriting guidelines, appetite, and pricing adequacy frameworks, ensuring sound underwriting judgement and profitable outcomes. Demonstrate strong market awareness, including Financial Lines market cycles, claims trends, legal/regulatory developments (including Malaysian context), and competitive dynamics. Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and internal governance requirements, including adherence to underwriting standards, policies, and risk controls. Support and lead portfolio governance activities, including cell reviews, portfolio monitoring, and identification/follow-through of remediation actions. Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders to support retention, cross-sell opportunities, and overall portfolio growth. Develop deep expertise in Financial Lines products, policy wordings, coverage nuances, and emerging risks (e.g. cyber threats, regulatory exposures, financial misconduct). About You: 7+ years working experience with substantial experience gained within the insurance industry. Degree or equivalent qualification preferable.
