Custom Packaging Design Engineer Co-Op (Spring 2027)

About the role

The ORBIShield Custom Packaging Design Engineer Co-Op at ORBIS Corporation will support the Custom Design/Engineering Team by assisting with the creation of packaging designs and prototypes based on customer specifications. This hands-on role offers students the opportunity to learn about materials and manufacturing processes, followed by in-depth training in design. By the end of the co-op, students will be proficient in SolidWorks, capable of creating and interpreting final prints, and equipped to manage a project from concept through execution. This position will run from January 2027 to June 2027 with the possibility to extend into Summer. Areas of Learning/Responsibilities - Lead and manage assigned project/projects - Provide design samples to meet the needs and wants of our customers and sales team on a timely basis - Provide cost effective and manufacturable designs from concept to production - Provide technical skill, knowledge and judgment to ensure designs meets our customer's specific needs - Ensure the quality of design prior to manufacturing by fabricating a prototype for customer approval - Suggest ways to address issues discovered during assembly and overall manufacturing - Demonstrate commitment to safety and performs job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures - Seeks assistance or guidance from design team members or manager when necessary
