Responsibilities

  • Assesses adult critical care and med-surge patients for PICC services needs.
  • Provides safe and effective PICC services to the hospital patients. Assess and monitor vital signs of patients admitted in the outpatient infusion center. Notify physicians regarding patient conditions and lab results prior/during infusion therapy

To consult with physicians and nursing staff on an ongoing basis regarding psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the procedural process and communicates with physician and other team members regarding care and condition of patients throughout the procedural stay. To perform PICC line insertions on patients. To serve as a liaison to staff. To perform job duties in accordance with the medical center's purpose. To participate in continuous quality improvement goals and outcomes. This job profile may require call subject to the department's discretion. Education & Experience Must be licensed as RN for one (1) year. Two (2) years of RN experience in specified area preferred. BSN preferred. Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: Valid RN license, ACLS required within ninety (90) days of employment, successful completion of Basic EKG course required within ninety (90) days of employment. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong verbal and written communications skills. Interpersonal skills, must have high level of concentration and maintain confidentiality. Expected to have problem solving skills related to procedural priority, personnel assignments and next level of care assignments. Must have appropriate computer skills and technical skills to maintain equipment. Must be able to set up and maintain equipment unique to this area and maintain clinical competencies according to ins standards, established policies and procedures of PICC services.
