Posted Job Title CORL Fellow Translational Research NBC Job Profile Title Intern Job Description Summary A one to two-year (preferably) fellowship embedded in the Department of Clinical Studies, New Bolton Center at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, this fellowship aims to provide qualified veterinarians with hands-on training, mentoring, and experience in the field of preclinical translational research for medical devices, experimental surgery, and regulatory science. This training program aims to build a foundation for clinician-scientists to turn observations from laboratory, clinic, and community discoveries into inventions that improve the health of individuals and the public. Job Description The program focuses on one-on-one instruction and mentoring, enabling trainees to gain direct experience in preclinical research. Hands-on training emphasizes grant writing, in vivo trial design, statistical sciences, biomedical ethics, preclinical regulatory principles (Good Laboratory Practice [GLP & VICH-GL9), in vitro and in vivo measurement methodologies, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. By applying contemporary research tools to clinically relevant areas of investigation, the participants develop a foundation for careers in academic medicine, industry, and regulatory affairs. Hands-on instruction in the operating room on basic and complex operative techniques for the musculoskeletal system, about a wide selection of implant systems (trauma long bone, spine, TJR, joint resurfacing, CMF, biofilm infection, regenerative musculoskeletal therapies), and the development and use of emerging technologies is a major component of this program . Model species comprise rats, rabbits, sheep, goats, pigs, and horses.
