POSITION SUMMARY: The Laborer supports safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations by performing a wide range of general labor and operational support tasks in an industrial manufacturing environment with kiln operations. This role is essential to maintaining a safety‑first culture and requires strict adherence to all safety rules, procedures, and environmental standards, including the consistent and correct use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Safety & Compliance Perform all duties in compliance with company policies and all applicable MSHA, environmental, and safety regulations. Consistently wear and properly use all required PPE, including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel‑toe/metatarsal boots, gloves, high‑visibility clothing, and respiratory protection as required. Follow all safety procedures related to lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, hot work, and working at heights. Immediately report safety hazards, near misses, incidents, or unsafe conditions to supervision. Participate in pre‑shift meetings, safety training, inspections, and job safety analyses (JSAs). Plant, Kiln & Production Support Perform general labor duties supporting kiln, production, and maintenance operations. Clean and remove debris, dust, residue, and material buildup from plant areas including kilns, coolers, mills, conveyors, silos, screens, baghouses, platforms, catwalks, basements, rail and truck loadout areas, and yards. Assist operators during normal operations, outages, and maintenance activities as assigned. Monitor work areas and equipment for abnormal conditions such as excessive heat, dust, leaks, or mechanical issues and report findings promptly. Material Handling & Equipment Assistance Perform manual material handling tasks including lifting, carrying, shoveling, sweeping, vacuuming, and staging materials. Operate basic tools and equipment such as shovels, brooms, wheelbarrows, and industrial vacuums. Safely operate or assist with equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, and vacuum trucks when trained and authorized. Support equipment servicing, inspections, and housekeeping to maintain safe and efficient plant operations. Housekeeping & Environmental Stewardship Maintain a high level of housekeeping in assigned areas to prevent slip, trip, fire, and dust hazards. Follow approved methods for dust control, waste handling, and spill prevention. Support environmental compliance efforts by following procedures for material disposal and emissions control. General Expectations Perform tasks in a timely, efficient, and quality‑focused manner. Work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating the ability to work independently. Perform physically demanding work for extended periods, including standing, bending, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, and reaching. Access all areas of the plant, including climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights up to approximately 120 feet, entering confined spaces and accessing tunnels. Work safely around high temperature kiln systems, moving equipment, conveyors, and mobile equipment. Tolerate exposure to heat, cold, noise, vibration, dust, fumes, and lime/mineral particles.
