Mechanical Design Engineer

Requirements

• 1.Conduct research on design components, such as tolerance study, structural analysis or hand calculations.
• 2.Solid understanding of a material's properties, surface treatments.
• 3.Knowledge of the different manufacturing processes: machining, sheet metal, 3d printing, welding.
• 4.The ability to come up with new ideas can be a valuable skill for a mechanical designer on an engineering team or brainstorm sessions.
• 5.Ability to meet specific design criteria, like form, fit, safety, reliability, and cost.
• 6.Has problem solver capabilities and the ability to anticipate potential consequences.
• 7.Good communications skills are essential as member of an engineering team that works together to achieve their goals
• 8.Can use highly specialized software (Creo parametric) to create 3D models and 2D drawings
• Profile
• 5 years' experience within a Technical Mechanical Design background ideally within a manufacturing environment.
• Master's degree, preferably in product development, mechanical engineering, electro-mechanical engineering or similar by experience
• You have a practical knowledge of mechanisms, materials, coatings and manufacturing techniques
• You can support your designs with basic functional, structural, and thermal analysis.
• Self-motivated attitude and the ability to use initiative
• You are able to generate documents and communicate in English.
• Knowledge of Dutch is an asset.

Role 1.The successful engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design of scientific instruments and satellites on a project level. 2.Starting from requirements, you create, together with a team of specialists, the mechanical parts on a detailed conceptual and detailed level. 3.Your designs will be completed for a multidisciplinary system perspective.
