About the role
This position is located in the Department of War Office of Inspector General (DoW OIG). The incumbent of this position will work within the Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Investigations (DIG INV), Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS), and serve as the Special Agent in Charge of the Mid-Atlantic Field Office. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself, or others is disqualifying. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also meet the specialized experience described below: Time in Grade: Applicants who have held a General Scheduled (GS) position for 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent). Specialized Experience for GS-15: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-14 level in the Federal service or at an equivalent level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as: - Analyzing documentation to ensure compliance with investigative directives, professional standards, and guidelines; - Providing oral briefs to U.S. Attorneys and directing subordinates in assembling and presenting evidence for subsequent prosecutorial action; - Demonstrated experience in criminal investigative techniques, rules of criminal procedures, laws and rules of evidence, search and seizure and related issues in the conduct of investigations; - Experience of demonstrated ability to direct, oversee, and represent the component with other law enforcement agencies or DoW agencies; - Leading or mentoring first line supervisory criminal investigators, criminal investigators or other investigative support personnel through criminal investigative processes and assisting in their professional development.
