Job Description: POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: The Community Ministries Worker assists in organization of food bank and distribution of donations. ACCOUNTABILITIES: Client Services: - Conducts initial intake assessments (including evaluation of client/protection issues), determining immediate needs and supports needed by the client - Provide emergency assistance and/or other forms of direct service for clients applicable to the program; - Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate client files and statistical records. - Assists in the organization, maintenance and general cleanliness of the food bank and family services area - Other duties as assigned. CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT Governance Boards and Councils: Internal: - n/a External: - Family Services clients MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY: - This position reports directly to the Community Ministries Program Coordinator - This position has no direct reports FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: - Effective distribution of food bank donations WORKING CONDITIONS: - Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions - Travel within city may be required to pick up food bank donations The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army's Mission Statement, in a professional manner, exemplifying Christian standards of conduct. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Qualifications and Certifications: - High School diploma, plus additional education in the social work or human services field Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements: - Up to one year related experience - Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army - its mission, culture, and values Note: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered. Skills and Capabilities: - Effective communication and interpersonal skills - Understanding for individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds - Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office - Ability to work with minimal supervision This is a 6 months temporary part time position. Weekly scheduled hours: 16 Target hiring range for this position is min $18.50 per hour to mid $23.13 per hour and max at $27.76 per hour.
