Senior / Nursing Aide

Responsibilities

• The Nursing Aide supports Registered Nurses (RN) and Enrolled Nurses (EN) in the delivery of nursing care to residents and assists in maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment within the nursing home.
• Comply with approved standards, policies, and procedures of nursing practice
• Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance residents' care and safety
• Attend to residents' needs, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being and report any changes in condition to nurses promptly
• Measure, monitor, and accurately record residents' vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure
• Assist residents with personal hygiene and comfort needs, including bed baths, showering, grooming, changing of clothes and bed linen, and ensuring residents are kept clean and dry
• Support the transfer, positioning, and mobility of non-ambulant or dependent residents
• Assist in conducting daily exercises and mobility activities for residents as instructed
• Assist nurses in ensuring residents take their prescribed medications safely
• Assist with meal services, including serving food and drinks and feeding residents when required
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation of care provided.
• Assist nurses with nursing care activities, including care of residents with urinary catheters and other basic clinical procedures as delegated
• Support the admission process and orientation of new residents
• Accompany residents to hospitals, polyclinics, and external appointments or outing activities when required
• Recognize and promptly report emergency situations, and where necessary, take appropriate first responder actions within scope of training
• Work collaboratively with nurses and other staff to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by Nurses, Senior / Nurse Clinician, Director of Nursing (DON), or Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
