The Pipeliner II role is responsible to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on specified pipeline assets with minimal supervision, and will assist in other areas of pipeline operations depending upon experience level.
This is a field-based role with frequent work in open environments with extremes of heat and cold, often in proximity to high voltage and/or chemicals, which requires safety accommodations such as protective clothing and equipment. This role is subject to callouts for work associated with Plains field operations and/or emergency response.
Job Responsibilities:
Performance of all Pipeliner I responsibilities and work tasks with minimal supervision.
Performs routine and non-routine maintenance, upkeep, and cleaning of station, pipeline, and terminal facilities.
Performs duties related to pipeline construction and maintenance.
Cleans and maintains pipeline rights-of-way.
Conducts repairs including ILI verification digs, pipeline change outs, re-coats, etc.
Assists in pipeline tank blinding.
Installs and removes pipeline pigs regularly.
Assists in ILI smart tool installation, tracking and extraction.
Acts as relief for Pipeline or Terminal Operators as requested.
Locates and marks pipelines with locator and responds to "one call" system.
Cooperates with operations personnel during DOT required inspections.
Complies with all job-related Plains safety policies and procedures.
Assists in pipeline construction and maintenance.
Demonstrates safe work practices following Plains' safety policies and procedures.
Assists in 24/7 Emergency Response.
Performs Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures.
Assists with any other pipeline related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience at the prior level.
Ability to speak, read, and write English.
Ability to read and interpret pipeline maps, technical drawings, and technical schematics.
Ability to work in a team-based work environment, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in power tool operation - i.e., compressors, power sprayers/tools.
Must have basic computer skills: Excel, Microsoft Office, Word, etc.
Must be familiar with PHMSA and OSHA regulations.
Must have an outstanding safety record.
Ability to successfully complete company Haz-Mat training, required DOT operator qualifications to perform pipeline mechanical operations, and mandatory safety training.
Ability to work in moderate to heavy physically demanding working conditions, including working outdoors in an open environment with extremes of heat and cold.
