A production engineer working in the EDT department (Engineering, Design & Technology) provides support in both tender and execution stage of a dredging & land reclamation project. It involves close cooperation between various departments, project teams and experienced crew on board of our fleet. Through a methodical, systematic and structured approach based on both theoretical and practical insights, we create as a team expert advice, profound analyses and smart solutions to bring operational excellence in DEME to a higher level. When a production engineer starts at EDT, the focus will be initially with support in tender stage to get acquainted with the dredging industry, calculation methods, ... . But experiencing the dredging operations on board is an important part of the learning curve which will be initiated very soon. Gradually more or more exposure will be given providing expert support to the project in execution as well. You will work as a part of the EDT team in our HQ in Zwijndrecht, near Antwerp (Belgium). Close follow-up, coaching and guidance will be provided of course by Senior colleagues in our team. Next to production engineering, the EDT team in activity line Dredging provides support as well in Geology, Geotechnics, Coastal Engineering, Environmental engineering and Wear &Tear expertise. This makes the EDT team highly divers in expertise and as such complementary to cover many expert aspects in supporting our projects. Your responsibilities In tender stage, the production engineer will be tasked with: Analyzing the most efficient methodology and suitable dredging equipment taking all information into account (soil conditions, project conditions/requirements, vessel specifications, ...). Determining the expected production levels of this equipment in the given conditions or limitations which are expected to encounter. Advising on the expected wear & tear of our equipment. In project stage, the production engineer will be tasked with: Transfer the tender info into facts & figures for execution. Prepare the project execution with the crew of the vessel and project team and formulate advice regarding methodology, tools required to dredge efficiently and wear & tear topics. Support the vessel and project team during start-up and execution (combination of support on site / on board and support from Head Office). Analyze production limitations and advice on improvements. Data analysis & feedback gathering on the execution method and performances. Analyzing expected fuel consumption and impact on energy & emissions. Identifying opportunities and risks. Your profile You are qualified in Industrial or Civil Engineering, preferably with a specialization in Construction or (Electro-) mechanics; You can think out-of-the-box aiming to come up with smart, creative an innovative solutions that can make the difference in a competitive contractor's environment; You can work independently, but you are a team player. You strongly believe that as a team, we can obtain the highest quality of support to all stakeholders; You are prepared to travel abroad for short or / and long term assignments; You are fluent in English. Dutch is a plus.
