Description of Work This Administrative Specialist I is a non-sworn position in the Sex Offender Coordination Unit (SOCU) within the Criminal Information and Identification Section of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. The primary purpose of this position is to support the North Carolina Sex Offender Registration Program mandated by Federal and State regulations. This position must maintain current knowledge and understanding in all areas of this field. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Aid law enforcement and the public regarding the NC Sex Offender Registration program and NC Sex Offender Registry. - Provide extensive customer service to law enforcement agencies and citizens regarding registration procedures, current NC and federal legislation for sex offender registration rules and regulations. - Provide verification of registration status and/or proper data entry. - Monitor and respond to Sex Offender Registry unit email requests for information and assistance. - Assist with processing and mailing Sex Offender Verification Letters. - Support SOCU supervisor with training initiatives and provide first line administrative support as new public/private sex offender projects are instituted. - Assist SOCU supervisor in processing offender registration terminations. Position/Physical Requirements: - Must be a U.S. citizen due to security requirements for accessing SBI applications to which the person in this position must have access. - Obtaining Division of Criminal Information (DCI) Network certification within 3 months of hire is required for this position. - NC CJLEADS Training within 3 months of hire is required for this position.
