Health System Specialist

About the role

This position is at VA Boston Healthcare System in the Research and Development (R&D) Service. The position is responsible for providing research administrative support to regulatory committees and provides subject matter expertise regarding the regulatory and statutory compliance in research. For GS-9: Possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-7 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following (1) Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; (2) Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and (3) Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. OR Possess at least a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related in Major study -- hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR Possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate education as (described above) to meet total experience for GS-9. To calculate the combination of education and experience, determine the amount of experience you have as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the amount of education you have as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Add the two percentages; the total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify for the grade level. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR For GS-11: Possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-9 grade level in the Federal service. OR Possess at least a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related in Major study -- hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR Possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate education as (described above) to meet total experience for GS-11.
