Scope of role This Engineering position is located at Regal Rexnord's Gearing Division facility in Apodaca, Mexico and is responsible for leading projects and engineering activities which are critical to achieve company goals and customer demands. The Engineer will be responsible for identifying, executing, and supporting projects to improve productivity and component costs, providing technical support for Sourcing and Operations projects, and supporting the production of existing product lines. You will be required to work independently and with cross-functional teams. Assignments will involve aspects of project management, material cost out (MCO) activities, design engineering, productivity improvement, 80/20 business philosophy, vendor collaboration, and continuous improvement. This position reports directly to a US -based functional manager and will regularly interact with other US and India team members, plant operations personnel, and stakeholders. Therefore, strong proficiency in English (verbal, written, and presenting) is necessary for success. The work arrangements are fully onsite and less than 10% travel is required. Essential Responsibilities Manage VAVE projects through a gated process, collaborating with cross-functional team members and influencing support teams to optimize products and achieve savings goals (VAVE/MCO/VCP). Gather component cost data, perform cost analysis and identify cost reduction opportunities. Improve or optimize component designs considering manufacturability, quality, and cost, with an understanding of required design analysis and manufacturing methods. Provide technical support to the Sourcing and Quality teams with vendor pre-approval, PPAP Charter creation, drawing / specification / deviation review, and PPAP part approvals. Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering regarding product design and manufacturing including evaluation of workflow and assembly to improve productivity and associated costs. When required, create test plans to validate design concepts and material or manufacturing changes, summarizing results and documenting conclusions. Apply engineering knowledge to support the shipment goals of the production teams through review and disposition of manufactured part variances and purchased part substitutions. Regularly "Go to Gemba" as a resource for technical support, troubleshooting, resolving issues, and implementing design improvements. Professional Experience/Qualifications Minimum Requirements : Bachelor's (licenciatura) degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university. 7+ years' relevant experience in a mechanical design or manufacturing engineering role. Demonstrated ability to lead meetings and/or calls directly with internal personnel, cross-functional international teams, and stakeholders. Strong proficiency with the English language, including effective use of diverse communication methods and channels (verbal, written, and presentation). Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and manufacturing processes with a demonstrated ability to apply them to product design and/or manufacture, along with a working knowledge of SolidWorks CAD design and drawing GD&T principles. Capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, results/metric-driven environment, with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks with a sense of urgency and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Willing and able to travel up to 10% to production facilities to observe current methods or implement changes.
