Responsibilities

  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously to detect or treat diseases, using radioisotope equipment, under direction of a physician.
  • Detect and map radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies, using a gamma camera or PETCT to produce photographic or computer-generated images.
  • Calculate, measure and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used and disposed, using computer and following physician's prescription.
  • Process cardiac and other function studies, using computer.
  • Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment and Nuclear Medicine & PETCT imaging equipment.
  • Maintain detailed procedure records
  • Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment.
  • Dispose of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures.
  • Prepare stock radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree (AA) Graduate of an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology. Required
  • 1-3 years Training/experience in Nuclear Medicine. Required
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (United States of America) Required or
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist Nuclear Med Tech Certification Board (NMTCB) (United States of America) Required or
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist Iowa Dept of Public Health (IDPH) (United States of America) Required
  • Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services Upon Hire Required
  • Child Abuse Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • May be required to work/float to more than one work location.

Minimum Hiring Wage: From $39.37 per hour Job Details: $20,000 Sign on Bonus for Eligible Candidate! Scheduled Hours: Monday - Friday, Day Shift Job Description: Prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes for therapeutic and diagnostic studies utilizing a variety of radioisotope equipment. Operate Nuclear Medicine and PETCT equipment to demonstrate anatomical or physiological structures of the human body for diagnostic purposes. Produce quality images as directed by radiologists and physicians for the diagnosis or treatment of anatomic or physiologic disorders. Demonstrate knowledge of general and cross-sectional anatomy, technical factors, radiation safety, and basic computer skills.
