About the role
The Quality Engineer is the focal point of Dytran Manufacturing and customer satisfaction efforts. This role is hands-on manufacturing, maintaining the Quality system elements and driving continuous improvement in an AS9100 and ISO 17025 registered and accredited environment. Role is onsite in Chatsworth, CA. Must be a US Citizen. Unable to hire anyone on a visa, permanent resident status or green card. Required Skills Develop, control, and support the creation of Quality Management System (QMS) documents. Support and conduct Internal Product, Process, and Quality System audits (AS9100 and ISO 17025). Support second-party and third-party audits. Demonstrated experience in mitigating risk, identifying, and resolving manufacturing issues (NCR) Work closely with production to resolve manufacturing challenges. Assess and disposition non-conforming parts and assemblies to support on-time shipments of quality products to customers Complete First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with AS9102 requirements. Build data packages as objective evidence of product conformity. Perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigation and monitor the Corrective Action process performance. Participate in the Contract Review process to ensure the organization's ability to meet or exceed customer requirements. Active participation in defining inspection requirements, acceptance limits, and inspection plans to ensure compliance with customer requirements. Identify Continuous Improvement opportunities and lead CI projects to make improvements to processes and quality system compliance. Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline. Formats and presents daily, bi-weekly, and monthly metrics for trends, conditions, yields, and regressions. Perform QA oversight function within development projects to ensure compliance with product requirements definition, design process, verification, validation, and configuration management. Analyzes data, recommends corrective actio,n and opportunities for improvements. Manage supplier qualification, performance monitoring, audits, and quality issue resolution. Monitor and report supplier performance using scorecards and key quality metrics. Manage supplier nonconformance (NCMRs), deviation requests, and concession approvals. Lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities for supplier issues. Cross-trains inspection staff for multiple flex inspections within the machine shop, welding, assembly, and calibration. Conduct new hire onboarding training. Professional Qualifications Technical college degree (or equivalent) with three to five years of quality engineering experience or ten years of quality engineering experience without a degree. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering ASQ Certification is a plus. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Familiarity with basic operations of electrical components and mechanical system dynamics Advanced computer skills, Microsoft Office (Excel and Word in particular) Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and processes in a production environment Ability to interface with various personnel at different levels of skills, knowledge, and experience The ability to speak and write clearly on technical subjects to individuals and groups Familiarity with the basics of the FEA is a plus Familiarity with piezoelectric materials is a plus Problem-solving expertise and good organizational skills Personal Skills Familiarization with AS9100 and ISO17025 practices preferred. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Strong analytical skills & ability to implement process control and statistical techniques. Knowledgeable and skilled with metrology control, reliability, and failure analysis tools. Able to lead task teams and organize root-cause analysis programs. Experience writing and maintaining procedures in support of our quality system. Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred. Experience in supplying new product development and releasing highly preferred.
