About the role

The NPI-focused Manufacturing Quality Engineer provides oversight and guidance in manufacturing operations. They coach manufacturing personnel on proper compliance and empower them to identify and escalate quality issues, to ensure quality products. Our Manufacturing Quality Engineers not only play a part in the design of our products, but also in ensuring that our process is as efficient as possible.

Responsibilities

  • Support System Test teams and assembly teams in quality issue investigation and solutions development for NPI builds.
  • Investigate and document causes of non-conformance issues in the Quality Incident Report Database and drive/implement corrective actions with supplier quality engineering.
  • Create quality and process alerts to drive corrective actions and train employees
  • Lead pilot build audits for new SKUs to identify risks and drive improvement actions with New Product Introduction (NPI) and Manufacturing Engineering teams
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality Control Plans and inspection strategies for new SKUs, ensuring effective in-process and final inspection requirements.
  • Create inspection SOPs with checkpoints based on critical-to-quality requirements.
  • Participate in DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and PFMEA reviews for NPI SKUs.
  • Drive improvements in assembly processes to reduce workmanship errors through established Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies.
  • Monitor Quality KPIs for test and assembly process areas and ensure that processes remain in control.
  • Participate in LEAN initiative, and engage Six Sigma tools for process improvements
  • Create and maintain QMS documentation for production and warehouse processes.
  • Support the manufacturing and warehouse teams during customer audits.
  • What You Bring
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing projects using six sigma tools and techniques
  • Experience in Quality auditing for ISO 9001 or equivalent standards
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing and solving complex problems
  • Experience in coaching engineers and technicians in problem solving
  • Rigorous engineering and leadership skills
  • Experience in effectively working with cross functional teams and executive management to get measurable results
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Word)
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and data analysis software (Minitab)
  • Proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workload and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or other Engineering discipline, advanced degree preferred
  • 8+ years experience in a high-mix, medium-volume hardware manufacturing environment preferred
