Day (United States of America) Location Olympia Center Job Description General Summary of Position Responsibility: Provides leadership, operational oversight, and direction for Medical Staff Services to ensure effective medical staff governance and compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements. Leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of processes that support the Medical and Dental Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and associated policies. Serves as a representative on behalf of the Senior Director, Chief Medical Officer, and other Medical Staff leaders (e.g., Elected officers of the Medical and Dental Staff) in a number of forums both internally and externally. This role operates at a strategic and operational leadership level, with accountability for execution of core functions, while aligning with and supporting the broader vision and direction established by the Senior Director. Essential Job Functions: Provides leadership and oversight of medical staff services operations, including credentialing, privileging, reappointment, and committee support, ensuring all processes are executed efficiently and in full compliance with Medical and Dental Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and organizational policies. Advises medical staff leaders and hospital leadership on compliance with standards from The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, National Committee for Quality Assurance, state regulatory bodies, and applicable laws and regulations. Oversees preparation, coordination, and follow-up for key medical staff committees (e.g., Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee), ensuring accurate documentation, appropriate escalation of issues, and effective governance support. Oversees the development, review, and ongoing management of privilege forms, partnering with medical staff leadership to ensure privileges are evidence-based, clearly defined, and aligned with current clinical practice, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards. Partners with Peer Review leadership to ensure effective integration of credentialing and privileging with ongoing professional practice evaluation processes (FPPE/OPPE). Leads process improvement and standardization efforts across medical staff functions, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency, consistency, and regulatory readiness. Directs accreditation and regulatory survey readiness activities, including document preparation, tracer support, and response coordination. Collaborates with cross-functional partners (e.g., Legal, Compliance, Quality, Provider Enrollment) to address complex issues, mitigate risk, and ensure alignment across provider lifecycle processes. Ensures the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of medical staff data and records, supporting reporting needs and organizational decision-making. Leads the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures related to medical staff operations and governance. Performs other duties as required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or related field required. Extensive equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum 10 years progressive leadership experience in Medical Staff Services within a hospital or academic medical center environment. Certified Professional in Medical Service Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) required. Extensive expertise in credentialing, privileging and medical staff governance. Expert knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements, including The Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Conditions of Participation. Must possess excellent communication, leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills sufficient to work effectively and productively with physicians, staff and external parties. Ability to manage competing priorities, meet critical deadlines, and drive performance improvement initiatives. Affiliation with the National Association of Medical Staff Services and the Illinois Association of Medical Staff Services strongly encouraged.
