Experience with NDOT's Geode software, business processes, and systems.
Experience with land parcel descriptions or highway construction.
Experience/understanding of engineering survey notes and reading highway construction plans.
Surveying coursework or experience.
PC based word processing and spreadsheet programs are beneficial.
Other:
Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation is required.
Some overnight travel may be required.

As a Highway Right of Way Designer III in our Right of Way (ROW) Division, you will be an important part of the process of developing safe highway systems for the state of Nebraska. You will be responsible for preparing right-of-way plans and land parcel descriptions, which are necessary to acquire the right-of-way to build and maintain state highways.

Job Duties:
Prepare right-of-way plans for complex right-of-way projects, with periodic monitoring and normal process reviews, with features similar to these: Several tracts, existing right-of-way, new and existing controlled access, railroad, right-of-way surveys, subdivision plats, shifted centerlines, frontage roads, multiple alignments, relocated highways, multiple previous projects, and right-of-way acquisition over the entire length of the project.
Use design software and coordinate geometry to create right-of-way plans by inputing previous row and land title information and write parcel descriptions for land acquisition.
Design new right-of-way and easement areas for acquisition.
Archive right-of-way projects, create condemnation plats and add sell-back information to right-of-way plans.
Attend department meetings pertaining to assigned projects.
Maintain right-of-way plans, project files, CAD files, right-of-way surveys, land title information, previous right-of-way plans, railroad maps, and city plats for assigned projects by updating project information database.
Input existing right-of-way information into the GIS system.
Research right-of-way project information, make copies, and distribute right-of-way information to NDOT personnel, including Roadway Design, Project Development and District offices, private utility companies, county entities, NRD's, Corps of Engineers, and private surveyors, per their request.
Check right-of-way projects and land parcel descriptions for accuracy.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: High school education or equivalent AND education or experience in drafting, engineering, highway construction, and/or right-of-way or roadway design.
