The Manager, Dive Operations & Habitat Maintenance provides leadership and operational support for Discovery Cove and Aquatica's maintenance dive operations and habitat maintenance programs. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily execution of underwater cleaning, habitat presentation, dive safety operations, underwater repairs, and maintenance diver staffing throughout the park's aquatic habitats and systems. The position is responsible for contributing to staff development, operational planning, dive safety compliance, preventative maintenance procedures, contractor coordination, and capital project support while ensuring the highest standards of habitat cleanliness, safety, operational efficiency, and guest experience. The ideal candidate is an operationally focused leader with strong experience in aquarium or commercial diving operations, habitat maintenance, preventative maintenance programs, and team leadership within a zoological or aquatic environment. What It Takes to Succeed - Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and operational experience related to dive operations, aquatic systems, zoological operations, facilities maintenance, or commercial diving. - Must be able to obtain and maintain all required dive safety certifications, CPO license, and applicable operational certifications. - Minimum of 3 years of experience in aquarium, zoological, commercial, or aquatic maintenance diving operations. - Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience demonstrating strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. - Experience with dive safety procedures, underwater maintenance operations, and preventative maintenance programs. - Experience with coaching, staff development, and conflict resolution. - Experience managing projects involving multiple departments, contractors, vendors, timelines, and operational priorities. - Strong organizational, communication, and operational leadership skills. - Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and maintenance/work order systems. What You Get to Do - Lead and oversee daily maintenance diver operations and underwater habitat maintenance activities throughout Discovery Cove and Aquatica. - Coordinate underwater cleaning operations including habitat vacuuming, hull scrubbing, underwater pressure washing, and presentation standards. - Assist in the development and management of departmental operating and capital budgets, including forecasting labor, equipment, contractor, and operational resource needs. - Direct habitat renovations, infrastructure upgrades, attraction maintenance projects, and capital improvement initiatives. - Establish and monitor performance metrics related to habitat presentation, dive productivity, preventative maintenance completion, safety compliance, and operational efficiency. - Develop and maintain dive safety protocols and ensure compliance with all operational and safety requirements. - Develop staffing procedures, dive schedules, training plans, and operational strategies for maintenance dive teams. - Oversee preventative maintenance programs related to underwater infrastructure, habitat systems, and operational equipment. - Troubleshoot operational deficiencies, emergency response situations, and underwater maintenance issues. - Coordinate and oversee outside contractors performing underwater maintenance, repairs, inspections, and capital project work. - Support planning, design, and operational execution of habitat-related capital improvement projects and retrofits. - Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and mentorship, and promote ambassador recognition and development. - Assist with departmental budgeting, procurement coordination, and operational resource planning.
