Previous APP with pediatric, emergency medicine, or urgent care experience preferred.
Open to new grads and experienced APP's. Preference for those who have shown prior interest and experience with pediatric population (extra rotations, prior employments, volunteering).
Minimum Education:
Advanced Practice Nurse: Master's Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
Physician Assistant: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.

The Medical College of Wisconsin's Division Pediatric Emergency Medicine i s seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care within the Emergency Department and Trauma Center (EDTC). This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at the Children's Wisconsin hospital campus. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.
Position Highlights:
Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.
Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests and appropriately communicates and documents information.
Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans, and monitors effectiveness of plan of care and appropriately documents outcomes.
Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed, including but not limited to: suturing, splinting, I&D's, LP's, joint aspirations, minor reductions, IO insertion.
Educates patients on disease and treatment plans. Additionally, educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.
Assists in the education and training of medical trainees including fellows, residents and students.
Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate, including primary care providers and other subspecialists.
Patient population: birth through age 18, occasionally older for our complex care population.
Provides care in the emergency department on the main campus of Children's Wiconsin. Sees patient's of all acuity levels, with approximately 1/4 of shifts in fast track.
Work within a team of 20 other APP's, and in collaboration with PEM physicians and fellows.
Participation within the four missions of our academic team expected and encouraged - clinical operations / QI, education, research and community engagement
Reports to Pediatric Emergency Medicine APP Manager
Schedule:
Full time role in a 24/7 coverage model with 9 and 12 hours shifts available
1/3 of weekend and holiday coverage expected
Jeopardy coverage two weekends a year
Able to pick up extra shifts at moonlighting rate as available
