Collects and reviews documents and summarizes exposure assessment and monitoring data to comply with legal and corporate requirements utilizing the industrial hygiene databases. Identifies potential health stressors, and determines the need for, and effectiveness of, exposure control methods.
Prepares and maintains standards, procedures, and training for industrial hygiene related topics to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
Maintains and updates exposure-based medical surveillance programs.
Manages and maintains industrial hygiene equipment and associated software.
Serves as Subject Matter Expert in the areas of chemical, physical, and biological agent exposure control, emergency response air monitoring techniques, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Industrial Hygiene sampling equipment.
Provides technical support of routine operations, project work, major maintenance or construction support, and emergency response to ensure worker safety throughout the planning and execution phases of work.
Supports development, maintenance, and execution of safety programs for implementation in the field to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and conformance to MPC corporate standards.
Conducts auditing on safety programs to verify compliance and conformance with regulatory and MPC standards. This includes analyzing safety performance data to identify and report trends, along with proposing recommendations to address areas of concern.
Leads and supports investigations for near-misses, incidents, and injuries to identify root causes and recommendations to prevent future incidents. Tracks recommendations to implementation to ensure completion.
Develops and presents training material related to a variety of safety topics in collaboration with Operations and Learning Development departments.
Develops safety related communications for inclusion into shift starter meetings, safety meetings, notices, and bulletins.
Education, Experience and Skills
Requirements
Must have steady employment history.
Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
Must have a valid driver's license. (MPC determines valid status.)
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
Travel Requirement is 5% or less.
Must be able to work one of the available schedules onsite: 9/80, 5/40 or 4/1, after hours calls are required several times a quarter and must support TAR/Outages at least three times a year. Business hour start time is 7 AM.
Bachelors Degree in Industrial Hygiene is preferred.
